This 1958 Topps Mickey Mantle card has a surprise on the back - an original painting of Old Yankee Stadium. This item is 1 of 1. There is no other card like it!

Any conversation about the "greatest baseball player of all time" has to include Mickey Mantle! Mantle was a 20X All-Star, 7X World Series Champion, 3X A.L. MVP, Triple Crown Winner and too many other accolades to mention here! He was inducted into the baseball hall of fame in 1974. Mantle played his entire 18 year career in Yankee pinstripes!

Teammate Whitey Ford said of Mantle, "He was a superstar who never acted like one. He was a humble man who was kind and friendly to all his teammates, even the rawest rookie. He was idolized by all the other players.”

When I look at this card and the painting of Yankee Stadium on the back, I can't help but think of the time "Mick" said, "All the ballparks and the big crowds have a certain mystique. You feel attached, permanently wedded to the sounds that ring out, to the fans chanting your name, even when there are only four or five thousand in the stands on a Wednesday afternoon."

How fortunate those of us were who bore witness to the once-in-a-generation greatness of #7!

Yankee Stadium opened in 1923 and is widely considered one of the most iconic ballparks in baseball history. It remained in this particular configuration (the one seen in the painting) until the 1974/1975 renovation. It was demolished in 2009.

"When I first came to Yankee Stadium I used to feel like the ghosts of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig were walking around in there." - Mickey Mantle
