This 1957 Topps New York Giants Team Card has a surprise on the back...an original Lost Ballpark painting of the Polo Grounds from artist Michael Koser. This item is 1 of 1.

1957 was the final year that Willie Mays and the New York Giants played at the Polo Grounds. Upon completion of the '57 season, the team headed west to San Francisco to begin play at Seals Stadium while Candlestick Park was under construction.

After the final game on September 29, 1957, Giants' manager Bill Rigney said, "I guess I'm a little nostalgic. I'm going to miss this place. I like San Francisco, but this place here was all our big goal, when we were kids. Coming up through the minors, we were just hoping to get to the Polo Grounds. Now we're leaving it."

Willie Mays was the only player to receive a standing ovation.

Baseball card is ungraded.
