This 1957 Topps Charlie Neal card has a surprise on the back...an original Lost Ballpark painting of Ebbets Field from artist Michael Koser. This item is 1 of 1.

Neal was called up to the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1956 a year before they left for Los Angeles. In 1957 he played more than half the season at SS for an aging Pee Wee Reese who had by then been relocated to 3rd.

Neal, who was instrumental in helping the Dodgers win the 1959 World Series, had incredible speed and raw talent but was always overshadowed by the 6 future Brooklyn Dodger Hall of Famers he played with. He was so "invisible" for years Topps printed his name as "Charley" (including on this card from 1957) even though he would sign the same card "Charlie".

Neal passed away in 1996 at the age of 65.

Baseball card is ungraded.
