Lou Gehrig Painting (18X24)
This item, a painting of New York Yankees legend Lou Gehrig on an 18X24 wood canvas, is 1 of 1. There is no other like it.
Lost Ballparks artist Michael Koser has created a new series of original paintings, "Lost Ballparks Legends" featuring some of baseball's all-time greats.
Lou Gehrig was a 7x All-Star, 6x World Series Champion, 2x AL MVP, Triple Crown winner, member of baseball's "All Century Team" and 1939 inductee into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Gehrig played in 2,130 consecutive games earning the nickname "The Iron Horse". Sadly, in 1939 Gehrig was diagnosed with ALS. He passed away at the age of 37 (6 months before the attack on Pearl Harbor).
"There were pitchers in the league who frankly confessed they would rather pitch to Ruth than to [Gehrig]." - Frank Graham, reporter and Gehrig biographer.
"He died as he had lived. Bravely, quietly." - Frank Graham, reporter and Gehrig biographer.
