1955 Bowman Al Kaline Card - Briggs Stadium/Tiger Stadium Painting
This is a 1955 Bowman Al Kaline card with a surprise on the back - an original Lost Ballparks painting of Briggs Stadium - later named Tiger Stadium. Artist Michael Koser always leaves a little bit of the original card visible through the painting, so you will notice Al Kaline's name just above the center field scoreboard. This item is 1 of 1.
Al Kaline, "Mr. Tiger", played all 22 years of his remarkable career for Detroit. #6 was an 18 time All-Star, 10 time Gold Glover and World Series Champion (1968). He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1980.
Kaline once said, “People ask me, was it my goal to play in the majors for 20 years? Was it my goal to get 3,000 hits someday? Lord knows, I didn’t have any goals,” Kaline once said. “I tell them, ‘My only desire was to be a baseball player.’”
Kaline passed away in April this year at the age of 85.
Card is ungraded. Slight 1/2 inch crease in the upper left on the front of the card.
