1967 Topps Ron Santo Card - Wrigley Field Painting

This 1967 Topps Ron Santo card has a surprise on the back - an original painting of Wrigley Field. Artist Michael Koser always leaves a little bit of the original card visible through the painting, so you will notice "Ron Santo" on the left hand side of the painting and the Topps card # "70" just below it. There's no other way to say, after 50+ years with the organization, Ron Santo was a Chicago Cubs icon! Elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame 2 years after his passing in 2012, #10 was an absolute inspiration to both watch on the field and listen to in the broadcast booth. 

His Baseball Hall of Fame plaque reads, "Chicago's beloved third basemen, belted home runs and defended the hot corner for 14 seasons at Wrigley Field, plus one final year at Comiskey Park. A nine-time All-Star and five-time Gold Glove winner, he was the grit and the glue of the Cubs lineups of the '60's. Mashed 342 career home runs, eight times belting 25 or more. Tallied 2,254 hits and batted .277, with 1,331 RBI. His courageous fight with diabetes during and after his career served as an inspiration to millions."

The Cubs have played at the "friendly confines of Wrigley Field" since 1914. The ballpark was known as Weeghman Park from 1914-1920 and then Cubs Park from 1920-1926.
