This 1968 Topps Tom Seaver card has a surprise on the back - an original painting of Shea Stadium. Artist Michael Koser always leaves a little bit of the original card visible through the painting, so you will notice "Tom Seaver" running up the left side of the painting. This item is 1 of 1.

Hall of Famer Tom Seaver had an absolutely remarkable career! He finished with 311 wins and 3,640 strikeouts! He was a 12X All-Star, World Series champion, 3X Cy Young Award winner, 3X NL ERA leader, 5X NL strikeout leader. In 1999, he ranked 32nd on Sporting News list of the 100 greatest baseball players of all time.

Hall of Famer and former Mets broadcaster, the late Ralph Kiner said of "Tom Terrific", "(He) was the driving force behind the players, always pushing the team to be better than they were, never letting them settle.”

Sparky Anderson said, "My idea of managing is giving the ball to Tom Seaver and sitting down and watching him work.”

The Mets played at Shea Stadium from 1964-2008. Following the final game at Shea a ceremony was held - Tom Seaver walked out to the mound and threw the final pitch at the stadium to Mike Piazza.

There were so many indelible moments at Shea! - The Beatles playing the first concert in an outdoor stadium, the Jets win over the Raiders in '68, Seaver's near perfect game in 1969 - heck the entire miraculous 1969 season! Rose/Harrelson fight in '73, Mookie's dribbler that made its way through Buckner's legs in '86, Mets 10 run 8th inning to come from behind and beat the Braves in 2000!!!

Card is ungraded. There is a scuff/card peel/divot to the left of Seaver's face and along the left edge of the card.
